REI Anniversary Sale: The Best Deals for Outdoor Gear (2025)
REI’s biggest sale of the year is happening now through May 26, and I’ve got my list of outdoor gear that’s perfect for the whole family. Items are divided into age and activity, and my top pick gear will be perfect for families excited to get outside for the summer, and all year long!
REI’s Anniversary Sale is the perfect time to grab summer outdoor gear before school is out. Don’t forget that included in your REI Co-Op Membership is a discount for 20% off with the code ANNIV25. Also, score an REI Outlet item for 20% with the same code, ANNIV25. This post includes some full-price items that I believe would be worth using your additional discount on, as well as plenty of already deeply discounted outdoor gear!

Best Gear for Camping
REI is known for carrying a wide variety of camping gear, and this sale is no different. With tons of camping options at 25% off, I’ve gone through and picked my top camping recommendations for families ready to start their summer adventures the right way. Whether that’s camping over Memorial Day Weekend or visiting the National Parks this summer, these are my favorite deals to get your family outdoors.
Coleman Cascade 222-Burner Camp Stove
We used our old classic Coleman stove for nearly fifteen years before it became time to update with a new camp stove. This version of Coleman’s classic stove features a rotary ignition, perfect to start without a lighter. The classic design also now features an easy to light ignition, something our old stove didn’t have.
GCI Master Cook Station
This camp table is so much more than just a table. Featuring storage space, a telescoping lantern pole for lighting, lower rack for storing extra gear, a collapsible sink, and heat-resistant aluminum workspace, this is the ultimate camp kitchen setup! It’s also been my favorite new piece of camping gear this year. With buit-in cup holders and little details like a place for garbage bags, this is the outdoor camp table that has it all! It’s currently on pre-order from REI, but that shouldn’t stop you from snagging one now. Even though it is a full-priced item, you can still use coupon code anniv25 to get it for a great deal.
YETI Roadie 15
The YETI Roadie 15 is the best small hard-sided cooler, and is the perfect size cooler for a weekend camping trip or road trips where you need to load up on snacks. You may wonder if it’s big enough for family trips, but at 14 liters, I can use this size cooler for myself and my kids on a weekend camping trip without having to haul or larger and heavier cooler. While it’s another full-price item, REI members can save by utilizing their 20% off coupon to grab this cooler at a great price.
Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket
I’m a sucker for a cozy blanket while camping, and the Rumpl blanket takes the cake as far as quality and durability is concerned. A bonus is the adorable patterns, making it easy to find a unique design that you’ll love while staying warm by the campfire.
Exped Megamat
With four inches of high-quality polyurethane foam, the Exped Megamat is our favorite double air mattress for car camping. With an R-Value of 8.1, this thing will keep you warm and cozy on cold nights out, but also is comfy enough for year-round camping trips. Just be aware that this is a larger car camping item, and will take up space in your pack out!
North Face Wawona 6
The North Face Wawona 6 is a great option for families looking for a high-quality tent with plenty of space and a well-built design. Featuring a massive 44 square feet of vestibule space, plus 76 inches of height, this is the perfect family camping tent for people who need storage space, as well as sleeping space. With a rating for 3-season, this is a great tent for cold nights as well as warm summer nights. I love the additional pockets to store different items, including water bottle pockets and places to store headlamps.
Mountainsmith Cottonwood Six-Person Tent
This 6-person tent is a spacious and affordable family tent, thanks to the current sale. It has features I love in a family tent, like a vestibule for storing gear, 90 square feet of space, and a freestanding design. At a little over 13 pounds, it’s best for car camping trips rather than lighter weight backpacking tents. However, this amount of space is hard to come by with a lightweight tent.
Best Gear for Hiking
Summer is a fantastic time of year to get hiking, and with all of REI’s top brands on sale, REI’s annual Anniversary Sale is a great time to pick out new hiking gear. This section focuses on backpacks, travel gear, and satellite communicator devices to keep you geared up for a great hiking season.

Garmin inReach Mini 2
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 adds peace of mind for hikers with a compact satellite communicator that allows you to message, send SOS signals, and share your location. It’s something that we’ve had lots of peace of mind from when my husband is working in remote areas, where satellite devices are the only way to keep in touch. With up to 14 days of batter life in full sky view, it can keep you connected for extended backpacking trips.
Osprey Sirrus 24 Backpack
I’ve used my Osprey Sirrus backpack for day hikes for almost a decade now, and I don’t think I’d consider another day hiking backpack at this point, and for good reason. With a breathable mesh back, a women’s specific design, and a built in rain cover, this versatile backpack keeps me comfortable on the trail. Whether it’s long days hiking with friends or a short, family hike, this has been my standby for a high-quality daypack. Use code ANNIV25 to get this full price item at a great deal.
Osprey Poco Premium Child Carrier
Our kids have graduated from child carrier status, but one thing is for sure: the Osprey Poco Premium got us through many, many years of hiking with kids on our back. I like that this backpack has a massive amount of storage space for hiking with kids (up to 36 liters!) and that it is adjustable to fit all body types. With a weight limit of up to 48 pounds, we could technically still be carrying our kids around in there! Believe me, they’ll be ready to hike independently by the time they graduate from the Osprey Poco Premium.
Best Gear for Kids
Exploring the outdoors with my kids has been one of my very favorite parts of being a parent. From camping every chance we get since the kids were babies, to canoeing, hiking, and of course, skiing, we’ve been able to immerse our kids in the outdoors. Choose the right gear and making sure it’s a good option for your family is going to make those memories even better. Having the right clothing, the correct gear, and lots of patience has made it such a great experience for us as parents.
REI Tarn 18
My kids have used the same hiking backpacks since they were toddlers, and it’s finally time for an upgrade to a bigger size. The REI Tarn fits the bill perfectly for a backpack that is a bit larger to fit more gear, but still low-profile and comfortable for their growing bodies. Add in the amazing price on the REI Anniversary Sale, and there’s not a reason to avoid upgrading anymore.
REI Co-Op 650 Down Jacket
May might not sound like the time of year to be shopping for down jackets, but as a skiing mom, I’m always looking for good winter gear at a great price. Our coat closet can attest that there’s never a good jacket that I’ll turn down, and with bluesign approved synthetic down, this jacket makes a great midlayer for skiing, or the perfect layer for cool weather camping, like we get here in the Northwest.
REI Co-Op Rainier Rain Jackets
This affordable rain jacket is a great choice for families on a budget, but looking for a great choice for keeping kids dry and warm on rainy days. Featuring taped seams, and a 2.5 layer shell, it will keep kids dry and shielded from the rain. It’s the perfect rain jacket for summer showers or changing spring weather, especially when layered with the 650 Down Jacket.
Keen Newport H2 Sandals
These sandals have been a must for our adventurous kids since they were toddlers. I love all the color options offered in the sandals, but I also really love the roomy toe-box. They’ve been our favorite closed-toe design for hiking and beach adventures for many years.
Best Gear for Women
I can’t be the only woman out there who chooses family gear and kids gear over my own comfort. But, I’m working to change that! I’ve started allowing myself to purchase items that feel like little luxuries to me, but are really just basic gear that fits me better and serves my needs better than my previous gear.
Altra Lone Peak Trail Running Shoes
I bought my first pair of Altra Lone Peak shoes about a month ago, and I haven’t gone a day without wearing them! These comfortable and lightweight trail running shoes are perfect for a variety of feet, including wide feet or even low-profile feet like my own. I haven’t had a pair of shoes with such a wide toe box in awhile, and I don’t think I can go back to more constrictive designs that many hiking shoes feature. They even feature the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance for shoes that promote good foot health. I love them so much, I’m even wearing them with a dress at the time of writing.
Mammut Treeline Light HS Hooded Rain Jacket
The Mammut Treeline Rain Jacket is a perfect lightweight and reliable rain jacket for unexpected storms. Featuring two layers of GORE-TEX fabric, you’ll be staying dry in even the hardest of rain storms. I also love that it has pit zips and it offers enough stretch to fit over my my mid layers. On our last camping trip I got caught in a cold rainstorm and this jacket easily accommodated my vest and mid layer puffy jacket underneath it without feeling bulky or uncomfortable.
REI 650 Down Vest
One item I never leave home without is my puffy vest. I’ve had it for so long that it’s no longer listed as an option, but this REI Co-Op brand vest has just the right weight for everyday use. I especially rely on my vest for our annual camping trips to the Oregon Coast, and spring skiing conditions. If you haven’t added a puffy vest to your coat closet, do yourself a favor and grab one on REI’s sale.
Best Gear for Men
Like me, my husband tends to choose family gear or gear that we can all enjoy over stuff just for him. However, here’s some items that he continues to use year after year that are on a great deal right now.
REI Trailmade Men’s Shirt
This casual button-up is the perfect lightweight shirt for going from work to the trail. I love the fun graphics, but what makes it really great is that it’s breathable and water repellent. My husband is constantly going from between his office to working outside, and he needs shirts that can work in meetings but be practical when he’s working outside.
North Face Adventure Sun Hoodie
This mid-layer shirt is a versatile hoodie that’s perfect for hiking or lazy days spent on the river. I love that it keeps you comfortable, whether that’s from sunlight or moisture.
Black Diamond Storm 500 Rechargeable Headlamp
This bright and powerful headlamp features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for long lasting charge on camping trips. It features red, green, and blue night vision, as well as full strength 500 lumens. It’s a great choice for a guy who doesn’t want to deal with changing a headlamp’s batteries, or worrying about it dying when you need it the most. My husband has had a similar design from Black Diamond for over a decade, and that thing is still going strong! This is the kind of headlamp you can buy once and use for years to come.
REI Anniversary Sale
The REI Anniversary Sale will last until May 26, so be sure to grab the gear your family needs at a fantastic price! If you’re an REI Co-Op Member, use the code ANNIV25 to get an additional 20% off your purchase.
