Town Hall Outdoor Co Gear Review: Quality Outdoor Equipment for Kids

Choosing ski gear for your kids can feel like a challenge. You may be tempted to use items they already have around the house instead of buying specific outerwear for ski days. Believe me, I’ve done that! But after days of wet gear, cold bodies, and disgruntled kids I’ve looked for good quality gear that can be multi-purpose and durable enough for all winter weather conditions.

Our family has had the opportunity to test Town Hall Outdoor Co. gear for over a year now, and when I say it’s quickly grown to be my kids’ favorite choice in outdoor gear, I mean it! I have to agree with them too.

Higher Performance Kids Gear Built to Last

Town Hall has held up not only for my son’s skiing, but snowboarding too. Even with all the falls he’s taken into wet, slushy conditions as he’s learned to snowboard, my son’s Mountain Town Winter Jacket has kept him warm and dry.

Kids Ski Jackets

Choosing a ski jacket for kids isn’t an easy task. You want something that is going to be high-quality and last a few seasons. Ideally, it should grow with your kids so you can make your purchase worth it. I also look for a winter jacket that can be versatile: Is it going to hold up on the playground as well as the ski hill? Finally, I want something that is going to keep my kids toasty in cold weather, but breathable enough that they’re not going to be a hot, sweaty mess on the warmer ski days.

Town Hall’s Mountain Town Winter Jacket checks all the marks and more.

Town Hall Unique Features

  • High-quality, technical ski gear made just for kids
  • Shell, liner, and insulation from 100% recycled materials
  • 10K Waterproofing/10K Breathable laminate
  • Easy care
  • Grow seams to extend the length and life of the gear

What We Love About the Mountain Town Winter Jacket

The first thing I noticed about the Mountain Town Winter Jacket is the bold colors. I’m obsessed with bright, bold colors for my kids’ ski gear! It makes it that much easier to spot my little rippers as they’re going down the mountain. With my kids reaching a point where they want to play and explore tree trails, adventure along side hits, and ski a little further away from mom, bright, bold colors are becoming essential!

Another unique feature to Town Hall’s Mountain Town Winter Jacket is just how soft the material is. Technical outdoor gear isn’t always the most comfortable to the touch, but Town Hall has somehow managed to design a coat that not only keeps kids dry, but is also comfy and cozy to wear. The Mountain Town Winter Jacket is an insulated jacket, featuring a waterproof outer layer and 150 grams of recycled synthetic insulation, making it a good choice for cold days. With 10K waterproof rating, this jacket is the perfect choice for bad weather.

Other technical features that I love in the Mountain Town Winter Jacket include a pass pocket in the left arm, powder skirt to keep snow out of the coat’s interior, and wrist gaiters to ensure little hands and arms are protected from snow. Pit zips with easy to open recycled zippers provides much needed circulation on warm days. The helmet-compatible hood is the perfect fit for ski helmets, giving kids added protection on stormy days.

Another thing I love about this winter coat is that it’s a great choice for days off the mountain, as well as during the ski season. My kids love wearing their Town Hall jackets to school, and find it easy to zip on their own for recess. Since the Mountain Town coat is machine washable, it’s easy to clean up after rough play outside!

Kids Ski Pants and Ski Bibs

Let me just admit for a moment that I’m generally pro ski bibs and pants over snowsuits. While we do love our snowsuits for long days outside, there is just something so much more convenient about pants and bibs when it comes to the lodge! Snowsuits can be bulky and cumbersome when kids are trying to take a potty break, hot cocoa break, or just want some lodge time. Choosing snow pants or bibs instead gives you flexibility to shed some layers during the inside time of your ski day. I do think this is a personal preference, and other parents may prefer keeping their kids in snowsuits during the ski day, but I tend to suggest that my kids wear snow pants for snow bibs on most ski days.

Features in the Mountain Town Winter Bibs

Once again, I LOVE the bright colors on the Mountain Town Winter Bibs. Honestly, I’m obsessed with how cute my daughter looks in her mulberry and black iris set, and really wish they made these in adult sizes. The years where she’ll tolerate matching me won’t last long, and I feel like this is what I want to match with!

One unique feature of the Mountain Town Winter Bib is the bib tightener, with an easy-access clip and strap. It perfectly adjusts the bib straps to give your kid the ideal fit. A lot of times I’ve noticed that bibs won’t actually adjust down small enough for my kids, and straps can easily slip off, but that hasn’t been an issue with the Mountain Town bib, thanks to this simple design. The way it tucks out of the way in the chest pocket is also an ingenious design feature!

Other features like reinforced knees and ankle patches ensure that these bibs are built to last for many seasons. Just like the Mountain Town Jacket, the Mountain Town Bibs feature 10K waterproofing to keep moisture out and 100 grams of synthetic fibers ensures kids will stay toasty warm in the cold mountain air.
